In this tutorial I will show you how to install the Eclipse Platform on a basic Fedora Core 1 installation. The Eclipse Platform is designed for building integrated development environments (IDEs) that can be used to create applications as diverse as web sites, embedded Java™ programs, C/C++ programs and Enterprise JavaBeans™.
The version we will be installing during this tutorial is the latest stable release version 3.0, milestone 6. For those who have not yet installed a Java Software Development Kit (SDK) we will show how to install Sun's Java J2SDK v1.4.2_03 later on.
