UPDATE 2004-08-02:
I guess it's 'semi' official since you can see RealPlayer Gold from Player Downloads page. Please note the RPM file name is now called 'RealPlayer10GOLD.rpm' but it's actually 'RealPlayer-10.0.0.297-20040730.i586.rpm' which was released on July 30th compared to previous RealPlayer 10 Gold version 'RealPlayer-10.0.0.288-20040728.i586.rpm' which was released on July 28th. So I guess the one released on July 30th is 'real' RealPlayer 10 Final Release as you can see in Project Downloads page.

Since my last tutorial on Helix Player RPM build, there have been many changes in the Helix Player Project and I would like to capture the main events and discuss HOWTO install RealPlayer 10 Beta properly.

As of 2004-05-18, Helix Player is now 100% open source but it can ONLY play open source format such as Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Theora, as well as SMIL 2.0. A superset of the Helix Player called RealPlayer 10 Alpha (now in Beta stage) can play non-open source format such as RealAudio, RealVideo, MP3, Flash. On 2004-06-16, the Project released RealPlayer 10 Beta with many bug fixes and improvements such as GTK 2.0 and wav, AIFF and au format support. Here is the announcement for RealPlayer 10 Beta: https://helixcommunity.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=115

Now before installing RealPlayer 10 Beta RPM package, it's recommended to remove older version of HelixPlayer RPM package since they can conflict each other for handing File types such as "application/smil" and "audio/x-pn-realaudio"

To remove Helix Player RPM package:

[tchung@localhost RealPlayer]$ sudo rpm -e HelixPlayer

To install RealPlayer 10 Beta RPM package:
1) Go to https://player.helixcommunity.org/2004/downloads/
2) In the Linux/x86 section, click on RPM link for RealPlayer Beta Linux/x86 (Sun JDS1, others2). See the screenshot
3) Use following command to install.

[tchung@localhost RealPlayer]$ sudo rpm -Uvh RealPlayer-0.4.0.186-20040615.i586.rpm
Preparing...                ########################################### [100%]
   1:RealPlayer             ########################################### [100%]

Notice in the About Plug-ins page from Help menu in the Mozilla, I had Helix DNA Plugin dated April 15, 2004

Now I have Helix DNA Plugin dated Jun 15, 2004

Don't forget to change associated FileTypes for RealPlayer in the Mozilla from Edit >> Preferences >> Helper Applications:
