Announcing Fedora Core 5 Test 2
Jesse Keating (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/JesseKeating) announces in his message (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-announce-list/2006-January/msg00045.html):
The Fedora Project announces the second release of the Fedora Core 5 development cycle, available for the i386, x86_64, and PPC/PPC64 architectures. Beware that Test releases are recommended only for Linux experts/enthusiasts or for technology evaluation, as many parts are likely to be broken and the rate of change is rapid.
Test3 is scheduled for release February 13. This aggressive schedule makes vitally important your help in testing, reporting and suggesting fixes for bugs. Please direct bugs to http://bugzilla.redhat.com, Product Fedora Core, Version fc5test2. As always, be sure that your bug is not already fixed by updates and search for existing bugs before filing.

Fedora Core 3 Transferred to Fedora Legacy

With the release of Fedora Core 5 Test 2, the Fedora Core Steering Committee would like to announce the transfer of Fedora Core 3 to the Fedora Legacy Project. For more information on the Fedora Legacy Project, or if you wish to join the team, please see http://fedoralegacy.org/.
FUDCon Delhi 2006 in India

FUDCon - Fedora Users and Developer's conference, Delhi 2006 will be held on February 9th 2006 as part of LinuxAsia conference is in India habitat Center, Delhi - India. The *tentative* agenda is available from http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon/FUDConDelhi2006. We will have a packed set of presentations and workshops from renowned speakers from Red Hat and the community at large. We will also have a .org booth for Fedora and participating in give aways and demonstrations.

Meeting Minutes for Fedora Ambassadors

Review: Looking Forward: Fedora Core 5

Overall, the distro will prove to be pretty slick. Performance issues aside (I really believe this is due to the developing code), what we have here is a polished Linux desktop distribution with a fine tuned installer, polished desktop, the proper compliment of applications (not too much and not too little), and hardware detection that rivals anything else out there I've seen to date...

Review: Latest Fedora Core 5 beta arrives

Fedora Core 5 is getting closer and closer to its official release date, March 15, and this Monday, the Fedora Project showed the way by announcing its second beta release of the Fedora Core 5 Linux distribution.

Overall, I can't say I am particularly impressed with the changes in Anaconda. It still remains one of the best and most intuitive Linux installers available today, but I found some of the changes slightly discomforting - why the sudden change of what worked so well for many years? SCALE 4X Is Coming!

The fourth annual Southern California Linux Expo will be held February 11-12, 2006. SCALE continues to grow year over year, and increasingly is attracting the movers & shakers in Open Source software. SCALE is not strictly a commercial Expo; Its primary focus is and always has been education. Expo booths are provided not only for commercial exhibitors, but also for non-profit organizations. On the commercial site, some exhibitors are IBM, Google, Ticketmaster, Tolis Group, and Centrify. On the non-profit side, Ubuntu, Fedora, KDE, Debian, and NetBSD are among the many groups that will be manning booths for your edification.

How to change default mount options
Toong Shing Chia has written his first article on How to change default permission of NTFS partition of an externel usb hard disk:
I saw many posting regarding changing default mount options of externel hard disk. Most response was simply edit /etc/fstab mount option. Just by manually editing /etc/fstab alone will not work. Once the system is rebooted or the device is removed, the manually edited /etc/fstab contents will be removed, by fstab-sync. This program is invoked by HAL daemon.
Fedora Core 4 Updates
During the week of January 16 - January 22, Fedora Project released 17 Fedora Core 4 Updates including 3 Security Advisories.
