This weeks tip of the week is a short and sweet tip, on how to get a picture of Tux on your boot screen

- submitted by Jonathan Robinson (mailto:jonathanpete@gmail.com)

  • When the GRUB screen appears, select Fedora, and press 'a'
  • Add this to the list of parameters: vga=769
  • You may want to remove the lines rhgb quiet
  • Press Enter

You can play areound with the vga=x settings to get different screen sizes

If you want to make this change permanent, add it to the file /etc/grub.conf

Here is the section from mine

title Fedora Core (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4)
        root (hd0,4)
        kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 ro root=LABEL=/ vga=769
        initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.img
