Tip of the Week: Minimise XMMS to System Tray

This will allow you to minimise XMMS to the system tray in KDE

  1. Get the xmms-status-plugin (http://www.hellion.org.uk/redhat/xmms-status-plugin-0.9-1.i386.rpm) from the bottom of this page: http://www.hellion.org.uk/xmms-status-plugin/
  2. Install the RPM: rpm -Uvh xmms-status-plugin-0.9-1.i386.rpm
  3. Go to preferences -> General Plugins in XMMS
  4. Select the plugin Status Docklet Plugin and configure it so that your mouse can control XMMS. Don't forget to enable it
  5. Go to Control Center -> Desktop -> Window Specific Settings
  6. Click New -> Detect, and then click on the XMMS main window.
  7. Go into preferences in the same window. Tick Skip Taskbar, and select 'Apply Initially'
  8. Restart XMMS
