Tip of the Week: How To Assign Shortcut Keys

This will allow you to bind a key, or combination of keys to a program

In KDE

  1. Right click on the RedHat Menu
  2. Select Menu Editor
  3. Select the Program you want to assign a shortcut key to in the left half of the Menu Editor
  4. Click on 'Current Shortcut Key' in the bottom right
  5. Set the shortcut key. In Advanced mode you can set a string

In GNOME

  1. Go to Desktop -> Prefs -> Keyboard shortcuts
  2. Select the appropiate program and double click it
  3. Type the key combinations you want to bind for that program
