Neat Things for Fedora Core 6

First, it'll be nice to see yum-updatesd and the puplet get used in wide production. I'm sure there will be bugs but it is still a good step. Yum-updatesd is a background daemon that downloads and updates the metadata for package updates and emits a nice little dbus message, syslog output or an email message to tell you that updates are available. Puplet picks up the dbus emissions and informs you of the updates from an applet in your panel.

Fedora Reloaded 6 Podcast Available

Word up the Internet massive! Fedora Core 6 has been delayed, but fear not, because we’ve an extended mix of Fedora Reloaded for you this time. After listening to all those experimental jam electro-noise free jazz rock albums on Jamendo we’ve put together a stream of Fedora consciousness podcast recorded live in wmealing’s garage (well, more accurately his lounge). We weren’t able to connect Chris Blizzard this time round to talk about the One Laptop project, so that will be in the next edition.

ATI Fedora Core 6 How-To

According to recent blog posted at redblog.phoronix.com (http://www.phoronix.com/redblog/?p=blog&i=NTU1MA):

For the convenience of new Fedora 6 users, I have thrown together a script to patch the Fedora installation scripts on the 8.29.6 drivers. Updated install scripts will hopefully make it into the next (monthly) ATI fglrx driver release. This script can be downloaded here. Be sure to read this entire how-to before running the script.

Flash Player 9 Update for Linux Released

The long awaited version of Flash Player 9 with support for the Linux operating system was just released on Adobe Labs. It joins the previously released downloads that make up the Flash Player 9 Update beta. This release closes the loop for Flex developers on Linux who can now use the the free Flex SDK in conjuction with the now available Flash Player 9 browser plugin.
