FUDCon London, 2005
It's Official. FUDCon London 2005, the third gathering of Fedora Users and Developers, will be held at LinuxWorld Conference and Expo UK, on the 6th of October in London (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London), UK. FUDCon (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon) will feature presentations from prominent members of the Fedora Project, both from Red Hat and from the Fedora community.
Introducing Deer Park
Christopher Aillon, lead browser developer with Red Hat/Fedora Project has written an article about the next generation browser, code named Deer Park (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/deerpark/releases/alpha2.html). He also reports (http://christopher.aillon.org/blog/dev/mozilla/20050718-candidate106.html) Deer Park Alpha 2 is included in rawhide (Fedora Development Tree) as of a few days ago.
Rev'ing up Your Backups

Thomas Guide: Remote Desktop

Firefox 1.0.6 Released
Mozilla foundation released Firefox 1.0.6 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/1.0.6.html) with several security fixes (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#Firefox) and Improvements to stability. Official Firefox RPM (http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/4/i386/firefox-1.0.6-1.1.fc4.i386.rpm) package has been released with Security Advisory by Fedora Project and they should be available from your local yum repository. We adivse everyone to update Firefox to the latest version. Here is a reason (http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=6950/) why new release was necessary in less than a week.
mplayerplug-in 3.01 Released
Kevin DeKorte (mailto:kdekorte@users.sourceforge.net) released mplayerplug-in (http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/) 3.01 (http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=343831) after my own crash report with Firefox. Here is 3.01 developer note (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=7785139&forum_id=21800) which includes new options. Safe way to remove old kernels
Is there a proper way to remove old kernels in FC4? Matthew Miller (mailto:mattdm@mattdm.org) recommends (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2005-July/msg03671.html) a utility called yum-utils (http://fedoraproject.org/extras/4/i386/repodata/repoview/yum-utils-0-0.2-2.fc4.html) and explains how to use it.
Critical Bug from Livna Fixed
Dams Nadé (mailto:anvil@livna.org) with Livna Repo (http://rpm.livna.org/) reports (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-announce-list/2005-July/msg00075.html) a critical bug has been fixed in the nvidia-glx packages from rpm.livna.org in the last release of our package.
