Regarding Recent Kernel Update on FC4

Dave Jones, a kernel developer at Red Hat made a special announcement with an advice if you have a problem with recent kernel update on FC4.

ATrpms for FC4/i386 and FC4/x86_64

Axel Thimm announced ATrpms (http://atrpms.net/) is officially launching Fedora Core 4 support for i386 and x86_64

Creating a Fedora Core 4 LiveCD

Dirk Westfal has written an article on creating a basic *console-only* Fedora Core 4 based LiveCD which will be a foundation for Fedora Live CD generator project (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/LiveCD).

Thomas Guide: RealPlayer

Thomas Chung has written a step-by-step screenshot-based guide to install RealPlayer for a Linux Newbie. He also discusses how to solve dependency issue with yum.

Review: Fedora Core 4

Here is another review (http://os.newsforge.com/os/05/07/11/2327248.shtml?tid=2) we found this week. The author says "In the end, the massive multimedia problems and the inclusion of the beta version of OpenOffice.org make this distribution seem more like a polished test release than a stable operating system."

Firefox 1.0.5 Released

Mozilla foundation released Firefox 1.0.5 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/1.0.5.html) with several security fixes (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#Firefox) and Improvements to stability. We are expecting an official RPM version from Fedora Project within a week.

FUDCon in London?

It seems we are going to have our next FUDCon (http://fedoraproject.org/fudcon/) in London (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-marketing-list/2005-July/msg00094.html) early week in October. Here are two reasons (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-marketing-list/2005-July/msg00099.html) why we are not having FUDCon in San Francisco.
