Red Hat Magazine - September 2005
Last month's issue was all about deploying and maintaining your systems with Red Hat Network. This month, Red Hat Magazine (http://www.redhat.com/magazine/) focuses on tuning and monitoring code for optimal performance. Learn about the Linux utilities ps, top, sar, iostat, and vmstat (http://www.redhat.com/magazine/011sep05/features/tools/), gathering information about the running kernel with SystemTap (http://www.redhat.com/magazine/011sep05/features/systemtap/), and GCC flags to optimize code when it is compiled (http://www.redhat.com/magazine/011sep05/features/gcc/).
Also, in response to the recent news about computer worms spreading over the Internet, Josh Bressers from the Red Hat Security Response Team has written a great description of what a worm is (http://www.redhat.com/magazine/011sep05/features/security/) as well as explained how Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora Core have technologies such as SELinux and ExecShield to help prevent common viruses and worms from infecting your system.
Enjoy issue #11. Our one year anniversary is coming up next!
