  • OpenAFS.org (http://openafs.org/) announced (http://lists.openafs.org/pipermail/openafs-announce/2005/000121.html) that OpenAFS 1.4 Release Candidate 5 but next day they refreshed (http://lists.openafs.org/pipermail/openafs-announce/2005/000122.html) the release after discovering a single bit error to be present in the tar file.
  • Here are OpenAFS 1.4.0rc5 RPMs for FC4 (http://fedoranews.org/tchung/openafs/1.4.0rc5/fc4/). I received a "thank you" note the next day.
Thank you for making Fedora Core 4 OpenAFS packages available.
They've saved me quite a bit of work, and I really appreciate it.

Tom.

  • I picked up a PowerBook G4 Titanium (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=43095) and I had some fun with it. First, I installed FC4 PPC but I had some trouble booting it and getting X to work. Later I found a work around from this bugzilla (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=149188).
  • From various sites, I've collected a few tips (http://fedoranews.org/tchung/ppc/fc4/readme.txt) for running FC4 PPC on PowerBook G4. Here is a great looking screenshot (http://fedoranews.org/tchung/ppc/fc4/fc4-ppc.png) of Fedora Core 4 running on PowerBook G4.
  • I even tested Ubuntu 5.10 Colony 5 (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/5.10/colony-5/) PPC and YellowDog Linux (http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/resources/ftp_mirrors.shtml) which is a Fedora Core based distribution. Here is a screenshot (http://fedoranews.org/tchung/ppc/ydl/YellowDog_4.0.1.png) of Yellow Dog Linux 4.0.1 running PowerBook G4.
